WEEK 1: Skream – Midnight Request Line

Where better to start? This tune right here was pretty much was the fuel on the fire for dubstep. Skream has told the story of this tune dropping for the first time @ the renoud raves called ‘FWD’ many times. Its a big one  - if you aint heard it… you need to! Big shout out to Skream on this one.

I’m just putting this post up, but I really can’t work out what the name of the track is that the vocal is sampled from. So if you know, make sure you comment and remind me!

Didn’t expect something like this from KillSonik but i do enjoy the sampled vocal, and the almost old’skool beat and feel. Feels like something i would have expected to hear from a purist dubstep producer. However I am loving how the track splits up into two beat structures, defiantly gives it something special.

When i first played this track, like many, i skipped to around 40 seconds to catch the point at which the tune really builds up and kicks in. However i ended up listening to a longer intro than expected, which was nice, we always like being surprised at FILTH FM. When the track kicked in i felt slightly unsatisfied by the elctro house feel. However, after the first 16 bars the track broke from a 4/4 beat into a half-time dubstep beat. And boy did it blow me off my feet. Really like the dynamism of this track, and more so that it catches you of guard. Highly recommended from me, and I hope to hear from Seven Lions in the near future.

The intro to this track is just next level. With this funky bounce, and old school vibe your expecting a melodic, euphoric drop. Well, Eptic doesn’t roll like that! The tune glitches into an insane, bouncy, mosh-pit of synthesis. Really feeling this one, and I highly recommend it!

Nostalgia level 9/10.

Tupac is back from the dead, or should I say reincarnated through the power of technology. A hologram has reproduced the live performance of Tupac, shocking many viewers to believe he is still alive. Watch the video, because you won’t believe it is true until you see it. What next? Biggie?

We have all heard the track, Activate, by Eddie K and Minus Ft. Beezy. I can even remember the first time i heard a friend of mine play this in a serious club! Boy, did it make me do a handstand on a radiator and ride a three legged sea bass into the sunset with a KFC bargain bucket clenched in between my arms. This new remix fro Subzee-D is defiantly one to be added to the “need to get my hands on dubs” list. Seriously great remix, love the weight behind it and the pulsating crunch of distorted synthesis that comes with it.

This head banging mixture of face melting synthesis and drilling dinosaur porn from Sub Focus is the latest addition to the UKF video list. With a solid intro, cut up drop and dynamic chorus, this is the kind of track you would expect to hear from Kill The Noise. You could almost say that there is a definite influence in the track from Kill The Noise and Knife Party, not to mention Skrillex. But then again, whose music isn’t influenced by the Skrillasourus-Rex.
